Carl Michael Deliteris, a longtime Southold resident, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the age of 76.

Carl was born on October 24, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Jean (Vivinetto) and Michael Deliteris. He is one of two children. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1966 to 1968, earning the rank of Private First Class. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Defense Service Medal and a Marksman Badge Rifle M14. He’s really proud of his military service.

On May 24, 1997, he married Charlotte (née Shriever) DeLittles and together they made their home in Southold. He worked for 20 years as a self-employed painting contractor. He was also a member of the Griswold-Terry-Glover Post 803 of the Southold American Regiment.

Carl died before his parents and daughter Tara, leaving his wife Charlotte. Kids Susan Abadia of Brooklyn, New York, and Laura Cooper of Santa Clarita, California. grandsons Jack Robinson, Rachel Robinson, Victorio Abbadia Jr., and Courtney Cooper; and older sister Janet Ferreri (John).

The family will host visitors at the DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, and the American Legion will hold a funeral at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 12. Held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Father John Barrett. Funeral services will be held in U.S. military honors and will follow at St. Patrick RC Cemetery in Southold.
