Verlain Beauge, 18, of Williston Park was arrested for battery after hitting a woman in the face with a knife, Nassau County Police announced Wednesday, June 7.

On Tuesday, June 6, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly struck in the face by Beauge while walking on the second floor of the Roosevelt Field Mall in East Garden City.

It wasn’t until the woman was hit that he realized that Bori had been holding a knife in his hand, so he fled the scene.

According to police, the victim suffered a “major laceration” on his cheek and was treated at a local hospital. It is unclear whether the laceration was caused by the blade or another part of the weapon.

Beauge was arrested and charged with the following:

  • level one attack
  • secondary attack
  • Level 4 illegal possession of a weapon

He was arraigned and is scheduled to appear again in First District Court on Friday, June 9.

Beauge, who was previously arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in January 2023 and for unlawful possession of a controlled substance in March 2023, will appear in court again on Monday, June 26.
