It happened on Tuesday, June 6 at around 10.10pm on the shores of the North Sound.

Suffolk County Police said a 20-year-old man was driving a 1995 Honda Civic eastbound on Pine Aire Drive when he tried to pass a 2006 Ford van on the right side of the intersection on Peck Avenue.

According to police, the Honda slammed into the curb and then into the Ford before leaving the road and crashing into a sign and a utility pole.

The man was deported by Honda.

The victim, identified as Gulf Shore resident Isaiah Santos Rubio, was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Gulf Shores, where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the Honda, along with the driver and two passengers in the Ford, were taken to the same hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
