The incident occurred at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, East Nassau County, on Monday, June 5 at around 420 p.m.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, the woman was walking on the second floor of the Roosevelt Field Mall when she was struck in the face by a man.
After being hit, the victim noticed the man had a knife in his hand. The man then fled, police said.
The victim suffered a severe tear to his left cheek and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
