The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Friday, June 2 at Port Jefferson Station.
Suffolk County Police said a male pedestrian who was crossing Route 112 eastbound south of Rose Avenue was struck by an unidentified SUV traveling southbound on Route 112 and the SUV fled the scene.
The man was then struck by a second southbound vehicle that remained at the scene. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
On Tuesday, June 6, police identified the victim as Peter Williams, 47, from Triville.
