Police confirmed the incident happened at the Home Depot store in Riverhead, Old Country Road, at about 8.30am on Monday, June 5.

According to police radio communications, the suspect told the store manager that there was an explosive device somewhere in the building.

Customers and employees were evacuated as a precaution as members of the Riverhead and Suffolk County Police Departments searched the building with K-9 dogs.

Investigators found no bomb-making materials or other signs of suspicious activity, police said. Shortly after, the store reopened.
