Suffolk Police said the man was arrested shortly after he attempted to burglarize Marinelli Jewelers in Eastport, 7 Eastport Manor Road, at about 2.35am on Sunday, June 4.

An investigation by detectives from Suffolk Police’s Major Crimes Squad determined he was responsible for three other burglaries and one grand burglary.

The suspect, Francisco Maldonado, 42, of Bay Shore, burglarized the following businesses:

  • BP Gas Station, 1680 North Ocean Ave. in Holtsville, Tuesday, April 18,
  • Kitchen Designs and More, 4100 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale, Sunday, May 7,
  • The original Michelangelo at Eastport Pizzeria and Restaurant at 11
  • Eastport Manor Road, Eastport, Saturday 27 May.

During the theft, Maldonado stole cash and property, police said.

On Sunday, May 14, Maldonado also used the stolen credit card to make purchases at the Home Deport in Deer Park, 475 Commack Road.

Maldonado was charged with:

  • Three counts of burglary in the third degree,
  • One count of attempted third degree theft,
  • One count of grand larceny fourth degree,
  • resist arrest.

He will spend the night in Suffolk County PD Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to appear at Central Islip First Magistrates Court on Monday, June 5.
