The incident occurred at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30 in Hicksville, according to Nassau County Police.

The victim, a 19-year-old male, was talking to his aunt and uncle on Woodcrest Road when 53-year-old Richard Bowman drove by in his 2012 Hyundai Sonata.

According to police, Bowman stopped his car near the trio and began throwing food at the teen for no apparent reason.

He also yelled hateful, demeaning comments at the three men based on their nationalities.

When the teen asked Bowman to leave, he got out of the car, rushed at the teen, and punched him in the face before fleeing the scene, according to reports.

Bowman was arrested following an investigation into the incident and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree aggravated harassment.

He will appear in First District Court on Thursday, June 1.
