National Donut Day is celebrated every first Friday in June.


Long Island, New York – May 31, 2018 – It’s the day for those of us who mark our sweet tooth on our calendars every year – June 1st marks the return of National Donut Day, the eponymous annual event that pays tribute to everyone’s favorite donut, icing and jelly or cream -Filled Treats: Donuts.


The event originated in the 1930s when the Chicago branch of the Salvation Army launched the event to honor members who served donuts to our soldiers on the front lines of World War I. Over the years, National Donut Day has endured and grown, capturing the attention of the general public and eventually becoming a national phenomenon. So why not? After all, given the variety of varieties of this delicious treat — limited only by the imagination of bakers everywhere — donuts are one of the most popular snacks in the country, and with National Donut Day gaining traction over the years, even more so More and more donut shops began offering free donuts, eventually cementing the tradition in the public consciousness.
