It happened between exits 58 and 59 at Islandia at around 2.40am on Monday, May 29.

Suffolk Police said the woman was driving a 2010 Ford Edge eastbound with her boyfriend in the front passenger seat when the vehicle veered off the road, struck the center center line and swerved One lap, hit the guardrail on the right.

Victim Erika Figueroa, 26, of Medford, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Juan Reyes, 34, of Medford, was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
