Authorities conducted an operation in Patchogue at the intersection of Waverly Avenue and North Service Road from about 11:10 p.m. on Friday, May 26, to 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27.

Suffolk Couty Police said a total of 523 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

One of the motorists, 43-year-old Robert Jimenez of Ronkonkoma, was charged with Leandra Act, DUI aggravated felony, felony, carrying a 13-year-old in a vehicle and three counts of misconduct The charge was causing harm to children, police said, as there were children aged 13, 15 and 16 in the vehicle.

The following persons were charged with drink driving:

  • Erik Delosh, 36, Babylon
  • Michael Capozucca, 29, of Northport
  • Thomas Santoro, 25, of Holbrook
  • Richard Petry, 33, Islip
  • Gina Stewart, 25, Sayville

Victor Saquicaray, 39, of Patchogue, was charged with driving a drugged motor vehicle.

The checkpoint is part of an ongoing enforcement crackdown on drink and drug driving.

The seven charged will appear at Central Islip First Local Court on Saturday, May 27.

The joint operation was conducted by officers from the Suffolk County Police Department Highway Patrol and representatives from the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office.
