According to the National Weather Service, skies will be mostly clear until the front arrives later on Wednesday, May 24. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s.

The front will be accompanied by showers and a chance of thunderstorms late Wednesday afternoon into the early evening.

The front will sweep south, causing a sharp drop in temperatures, starting further north and inland, and continuing in the evening until Thursday, May 25. (See image above from AccuWeather.com.)

Temperatures will be 5 to 10 degrees below normal on Thursday, with highs in the mid-60s.

The holiday weekend of Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 26 will be dry with mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the 70s.

The weekend’s coastal storm is now expected to move south, mostly affecting the mid-Atlantic states.

“At least for now, Memorial Day weekend is looking dry in New York City and Boston,” said AccuWeather meteorologist Dean DeVore.
