The incident happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, west of Wyandanch Station, near the intersection of Long Island Avenue and Straight Road.

on a post TwitterThe MTA said service was suspended on the Ronkonkoma branch in both directions east of Farmingdale after someone on the tracks was hit by a train at Wyandanch.

An MTA spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Voice that first responders found the victim dead at the scene.

The spokesman said the victim entered the tracks illegally and was struck by an eastbound train.

Details about the victim, including name, age and gender, have not been released.

In an update at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, MTA officials said service had resumed at the Ronkonkoma branch, but with a 20- to 30-minute delay.
