The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Thursday, May 18, the recall of 456,000 PowerXL Stuffed Wafflizer waffle makers after 44 incident reports, including 34 burn injuries, three of which required medical attention.

“Hot waffles or fillings may be ejected from the waffle maker during use or when the product is opened, posing a burn risk to consumers,” CPSC said.

Waffle Makers sell at Walmart, Kohls, Big Lots, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Best Buy, The Home Depot, Target, Sam’s Club and other home improvement stores nationwide and online at QVC.com, walmart.com, kohls.com and other sites , from July 2021 to October 2022, between $30 and $60.

The recall involves PowerXL Model ESWM02 (5-inch) and Model ESWM03 (7-inch) Stuffed Waffleizer waffle makers.

The waffle maker is sold in 11 colors, including black, white, red, cinnamon, gray, lavender, lemon, ocean, slate, meerschaum, and sage.

The PowerXL logo is on the top of the waffle maker.

The model number and date code are printed on a label on the power cord, and all date codes are included in the recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Empower Brands to obtain a free latch adapter part and written instructions for completing the repair.
