Suffolk Police said Robert Colyvas, 29, was arrested at his home in Kings Park on the evening of Tuesday, May 16.
According to investigators, Colivas walked into the Gold Medal Gymnastics Center in Smithtown on West Avenue on April 29 and began filming children and staff without their consent.
He then fled in a four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai.
Colyvas was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He is due to be arraigned at Central Islip First Local Court on Wednesday, May 17.
