The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 pm on Tuesday, May 16 in Nassau County at the Carle Place of the Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse.

When officers responded to the restaurant, they found David A. Meikle, 30, of Uniondale, trying to flee on the Meadowbrook State Parkway, according to Nassau County Police detectives.

Officers chased down Meeker and when they tried to detain him, he tried to snatch an officer’s gun and was violent and aggressive, police said.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

An investigation found that Meeker was dining with a woman and a 1-year-old girl when he allegedly broke a martini glass and caused a riot, slapped a restaurant employee and tried to wrest the car from the woman keys, the police said.

The investigation also found he had violated the woman and child’s protective order against him, police said.

Mikel is accused of:

  • Attack Level 2
  • attack level three,
  • two counts of attempted robbery
  • endangering the welfare of children
  • resist arrest
  • obstruction of government administration
  • petty theft
  • criminal mischief
  • harass
  • contempt of court
