The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, May 15, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Emergency crews were called to Harmony Heights boarding and day school in East Norwich, 60 Walnut Avenue, which was on fire for unknown reasons, which are still under investigation.

Multiple fire departments assisted in putting out the blaze.

Authorities said the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no reports of injuries to rescuers.

Operating since 1974, Harmony Heights is a New York State registered high school that educates students suffering from depression, eating disorders, self-injurious behavior, and more.

The investigation is still ongoing, but the police report said the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
