Dante Torres, the star quarterback at St. Anthony High School in South Huntington, has made his college choice.

On May 3, Harvard University announced that Torres had committed to playing for the Crimson starting in the fall of 2023.

Torres, named the 2022-23 Gatorade New York Football Player of the Year, has received numerous offers from Division I soccer programs across the country. But ultimately, he decided that Harvard’s combination of academic excellence and athletic competitiveness was the best fit for him.

Massapequa’s Torres will join Harvard, which is 6-4 overall in 2022-23, including a 4-3 record in Ivy League competition. Under Torres, the Crimson will look to improve on that record in 2023-24.

The 6-foot-3, 193-pound senior quarterback passed for 3,320 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for 504 yards and 13 scores. He also led his team to the Catholic State Championship in November against St. Francis High School in Buffalo, New York.
