The driver of the vehicle has not been identified; MTA officials said the investigation is ongoing.


The Long Island Rail Road collided with a car on the tracks at the Speonk train crossing Monday night, killing the driver, according to MTA police.


The incident happened at 6:25 p.m. at the intersection of South Bay Avenue in Speonk, officials said.


LIRR representatives confirmed that at the time of the collision, the gates at the intersection were closed and warning flights were being flashed.
