The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 8 in Eastport, Suffolk County.
According to MTA officials, a 4:30 p.m. train traveling from Hunterspoint Avenue to Montauk struck a car on the tracks at the South Bay Avenue intersection.
One person in the vehicle died, the MTA said.
The person’s gender and identity have not been released.

No information was available on the names of other passengers or those who died.
MTA Police are investigating the incident.
