“The Town of Oyster Bay is committed to serving veterans and ensuring they have access to the important benefits to which they are entitled,” said Supervisor Saladino.

Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and the Town Board have announced that veterans and active-duty U.S. military personnel are invited to participate in the Town of Oyster Bay Armed Forces Appreciation Day celebration scheduled for Friday, May 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Syosset – Wood Bury Community Park at 7800 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury. Open to veterans and active duty members of the town of Oyster Bay, the free event will include a barbecue and entertainment by America’s Bombshell.

“The Town of Oyster Bay is committed to serving veterans and ensuring they have access to the important benefits to which they are entitled,” said Supervisor Saladino. “This is an important way of thanking our brave hometown heroes for protecting the freedoms we enjoy as Americans every day.”

In 1950, President Harry S. Truman established Armed Forces Appreciation Day to honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. This single holiday is an opportunity for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. The town’s festivities included patriotic music in honor of hometown heroes, including a special performance of “American Bombshell” and free barbecues.

To accommodate as many hometown heroes as possible, veterans and active military members are invited to bring a guest. Participation is free and a rain date is set for Friday, May 26th. To respond, please call the Town of Oyster Bay at (516) 797-4121.
