State police will be looking for aggressive drivers, speeders, drunk/drug drivers, and distracted drivers.


As summer approaches, New York State Police will increase patrols on Southern State Parkways, including DWI checkpoints and enforcement details, to reduce serious and fatal crashes on Parkways.


State troopers will conduct additional patrols in high-incidence areas on several stretches of Southern State Parkway during rush-hour traffic and times of crashes.


State police will be looking for aggressive drivers, speeders, drunk/drug drivers, and distracted drivers.


“Tragedies on our public roads could have been prevented if people obeyed the rules of the road,” read a state police news release. “Driving is a shared responsibility, don’t make a bad decision that could cost someone their life. Slow down, put your phone down, wear your seat belt, and drive sober. If you’re drinking too much, find someone sober to drive you You go home, whether it’s family, friends, taxis or ride-sharing services, there’s no excuse.”
