The program offers students interested in a career in live music exclusive access behind the scenes of the iconic Jones Beach Theater through venue visits, educational workshops and co-op placements.


Northwell Health, New York’s largest healthcare provider, has joined forces with Jones Beach Theater and the national nonprofit Music Forward Foundation to offer students from underserved communities a range of music industry career-ready programs, including venue visits and paid internships. The initiative aims to In engages Long Island youth in exploring career paths in the music industry and equips them with the necessary skills and resources to succeed in their chosen field.



Music Forward @ Jones Beach Theatre, a community partnership with Northwell Health, Partnering with Long Island’s high school and community partners provides once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to inspire personal and professional growth and prepare the next generation of music and live entertainment industry leaders.



The program offers students interested in a career in live music exclusive access behind the scenes of the iconic Jones Beach Theater through venue visits, educational workshops and co-op placements.



Behind-the-scenes experiences in the iconic 15,000-seat amphitheater will begin in June. As students consider career paths within the industry, they will highlight the variety of careers that make live music possible.



“At Northwell, we are partnering with organizations across Long Island to provide summer employment opportunities that will expand employment opportunities for local students and allow them to pursue their goals and advance their careers,” said Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer Maxine Carrington said. Northwell Health. “We are excited to be part of this program with Music Forward, helping students gain the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to thrive in this industry.”



Twelve graduating high school students will be selected to participate in the program’s seven-week co-op in July and August. Each week of the internship program will include practical training and job shadowing, mentorship from industry professionals, and workshops focused on career preparation. Additionally, the program will highlight a variety of careers associated with producing live music events such as talent acquisition, venue operations, live production, marketing, ticketing, and more.



“This is a unique opportunity to positively impact young people in the underserved communities we are serving. They have the opportunity to work with music industry mentors who can provide them with insights into the industry,” Community & Population said Debbie Salas-Lopez, senior vice president of wellness.

Through this partnership, Northwell Health and Music Forward will help remove barriers and increase access and opportunities for BIPOC youth, young women and underrepresented communities in the music and live entertainment industry. This move is in line with Music Forward’s goal of contributing to a fairer industry and society.
