The incident happened at about 3.20pm on Friday, May 5 in Wantagh.

Nassau County Police said the two 11-year-old girls were walking home from their school on Twin Lane North when a gray SUV drove up next to them.

According to police, the operator of the vehicle told the girls to come over to his car, which the girls refused and fled the scene.

Police said the vehicle was last seen heading towards Wantagh Avenue.

The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his 30s to 40s, with a heavy build, short black hair and a short beard.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
