According to Nassau County Police, the accident occurred in Inwood on Tuesday, May 2 at around 5:25 p.m.

Yvette Hughes, 59, of Chambersburg Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, was traveling in a white Honda driven by an unidentified man, police said. 64 year old male. They also reportedly had an underage passenger in their car.

The three were traveling southbound on the Nassau Freeway when their car collided with a blue Honda driven by a 24-year-old woman traveling northbound.

The force of the crash caused the blue Honda to also hit a Kia, also traveling north, driven by a 49-year-old woman, authorities said.

Hughes was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed as critically ill until she was officially pronounced dead on Friday, May 5.

The driver of the white Honda, the young passenger and the driver of the Kia were not injured.

The driver of the blue Honda was airlifted to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said.
