Store security allegedly saw Christian Chavez, 20, of East Garden City enter the Nordstrom at Roosevelt Field at around 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, according to Nassau County Police.
Chavez allegedly picked up a pair of shorts, hid them, and left the store without paying.
When police arrived on the scene, Chavez was safely arrested.
After investigation, police recovered a black 9mm Glock 26 pistol.
Chavez was charged with:
- Second degree possession of a weapon, two counts
- petty theft
He is due to return to First District Court on Tuesday, May 9.
