Arnaldo Marcano, 42, of Bellport, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary in Suffolk County Court on Thursday 4 May.

Shortly after midnight on Feb. 24, 2023, Marcano broke a window into a residence in Bellport, where he stole cash and fled on foot, the district attorney’s office said.

At the time of the burglary, he was on parole in Suffolk County after serving 17 years in prison for seven counts of burglary, all violent felonies.

In 2000, Marcano was convicted of attempted third-degree burglary.

He will be sentenced to 10 years in prison when he appears in court again on Wednesday, June 7, according to prosecutors.

“This defendant was just out of prison and was still on parole for a previous home burglary when he broke into someone’s home again,” Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement.

“This 10-year sentence will spare the community from this serial burglar. I will continue to carry out my duties as District Attorney to protect Suffolk County residents by preventing people like this defendant from terrorizing our community safety.”
