The accident happened at around 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3 in Jericho.

Nassau County Police say a 2019 Dodge Ram driven by a 34-year-old man was traveling southbound on the northbound lane of Highway 106 (North Broadway) with a 2019 Alfa driven by four teenage boys. The Romero sedan collided.

Two of the boys were fatally injured as a result of the collision and were pronounced dead at the scene.

They have now been identified as Roslyn High School eighth graders Drew Hasenbein and Ethan Volkowitz.

In a post on Facebook, Sporttime Roslyn said the pair were two of its most talented players.

“These are very special boys who were best friends and will be greatly missed by our entire community,” the post said. “Drew and Ethan have played in our club since they were 5 and 6 years old, and they’ve become (as 8th graders!) two of the top players on Roslyn High’s varsity tennis team, the top team in Long Island!”

The other boys involved in the crash, aged 16 and 17, were taken to a local hospital with internal injuries but are now in a stable condition.

After the initial collision, Alfa Romero also crashed into a 2023 Volvo with a 49-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male passenger in it, police said.

They were treated for minor injuries at the scene and were released.

Roslyn’s 2019 Dodge Ram driver, Amandeep Singh, was arrested with minor injuries and taken to a local hospital.

Singer is accused of:

  • serious car accident,
  • First degree vehicular manslaughter
  • second degree manslaughter,
  • Leaving the scene of a car accident with death,
  • DWI
  • Two counts of second-degree assault.

He was arraigned at Hempstead 1st District Court on Thursday, May 4.
