Officers responded to the Valley Stream Walmart at 77 Green Acres Road about a reported robbery on Tuesday, May 2 at approximately 1:10 p.m.

The thief was caught passing the till with unpaid items and confronted the store’s loss prevention officers.

However, when prevention officers tried to escort the robber into the office, he allegedly became agitated and threatened officers with a knife.

Then, police said the thief, later identified as Brooklyn resident Jeffrey Davis, began waving his arms.

During the outbreak, the knife cut the thumb of the loss prevention officer, who dropped their phone, which Davis then picked up and smashed.

After investigation, the authorities found Davis not far from the store and successfully arrested him.

Davis was charged with:

  • first degree robbery
  • second degree robbery
  • secondary attack
  • Level 4 illegal possession of a weapon
  • Third Degree Criminal Mischief

He was arraigned on Wednesday, May 3, but is due to return to First District Court on May 5.
