According to Nassau County Police, the incident occurred when officers responded to a domestic disturbance at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2.

Timothy Ibanez, 44, got into an argument with his sister, 41, and mother, 75, in the kitchen of their Kirkwood Road home.

When things escalated, Ibanez allegedly beat the two women multiple times. He then stabbed the two men with a knife, authorities said.

Ibanez reportedly kept the two victims inside the home for more than an hour, before they were finally able to escape to a neighbor’s house and call 911.

Police allege Ibanez was arrested without incident.

Both the mother and sister were taken to a local hospital – the mother suffered one stab wound to the arm and the sister suffered multiple stab wounds.

The two victims are in stable condition.

Ibanez was charged with:

  • First degree false imprisonment, two counts
  • Attempted second-degree murder, two counts
  • Level 4 illegal possession of a weapon

He is expected to be arraigned in First District Court on Wednesday, May 3.
