In response to complaints from community and area business owners, authorities investigated the Belmont Twins Deli at 746 Belmont Drive, North Babylon, at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Friday, April 28.

Silvia Ramirez, 55, of West Babylon, who owns the deli, is accused of:

  • Second degree criminal nuisance, misdemeanor;
  • promotes gambling, a misdemeanor;
  • It is a misdemeanor to possess gambling equipment and allow people to drink alcohol and gamble on premises.

Ramirez was released on a warrant to appear at Central Islip 1 District Court on Thursday, May 18.

This action is performed by:

  • Officer, Crime Unit, Suffolk Police Precinct 1,
  • Suffolk Police Precinct 1 Community Support Team and Precinct 1 Patrol Officers,
  • State Liquor Authority,
  • Babylon City Building Inspector,
  • Babylon City Building Inspector Fire Chief.

The Town of Babylon issued a citation to an employee of the business for violating building and liquor license regulations.

The business has been handed over to the State Liquor Authority for further investigation.
