According to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the thefts occurred between November 2021 and May 2022 at Ulta Beauty stores in East Farmingdale, Commack and Patchogue.

All told, the group stole more than $10,000 worth of perfume.

On Friday, April 28, the District Attorney’s Office announced that the following defendants had pleaded guilty to charges in the case:

  • Devonte Jennings, 24, of Wyandanch, pleaded guilty to third-degree grand larceny, a felony; was jailed for a year.

Deer Park’s fifth defendant, Asia Leaphart, 26, admitted hitting two Suffolk County police cars as he fled the East Farmingdale store, according to prosecutors. One officer suffered injuries to his neck, back and legs.

Leaphart pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted assault and third-degree grand theft, both felonies. She was sentenced to one year in prison.

“These individuals banded together to wreak havoc on businesses across Suffolk County by taking things that didn’t belong to them,” District Attorney Raymond Tierney said in a statement.

“We will continue to investigate and prosecute those who commit these quality-of-life crimes that threaten the livelihoods of our residents and businesses,” he continued.

“In Suffolk, there are consequences for stealing other people’s property. You’ll go to jail.”
