Members of the DIX HILLS Fire Department, GOVT.Officials and FASNY to kick off statewide recruiting weekend
As part of a statewide effort to increase New York’s volunteer firefighters, the 14th annual RecruitNY event will be held on April 20 at 11 a.m. at the 115 E Deer Park Rd Dix Hill.
The past few years have been challenging for volunteer fire departments across New York. Many are facing declining membership and increased call volume. This year’s RecruitNY Weekend (April 22-23), fire stations across New York State will open their doors to the public to attract new volunteers, show residents what it takes to be a firefighter, and talk about the need.
Representatives of the Firefighters’ Association of New York State (FASNY), local government officials and local volunteer firefighters will hold a news conference to outline events during RecruitNY weekend and how residents can volunteer.
