Appointment of top industry figure William D. Merklin as PE.
D&B Engineers and Architects, a leading engineering and consulting firm specializing in wastewater, water supply, hazardous waste, construction management, construction, solid waste, and civil and environmental engineering, has announced the promotion of William D. Merklin, PE of Babylon, New York, to Executive Vice President position.
A recipient of the 2020 Top Engineer Award and Nassau County Top Business Leader Award, Mr. Merklin joined D&B Engineers and Architects in 1995 and has served as Senior Vice President since 2016. A licensed professional engineer, he brings more than three decades of hands-on experience to his new position, including master planning, design, construction supervision, and inspection of water supply and other municipal infrastructure projects. In addition, Mr. Merklin is a sought-after voice in the fields of municipal water and civil engineering.
Mr. Merklin holds a BS in Civil Engineering and a MS in Environmental Engineering from Manhattan College. Hestated, “I look forward to the challenge of helping to chart D&B’s future course at a time of significant change in the industry. As Executive Vice President, I will oversee D&B’s business in the water and civil engineering sectors with a fresh perspective and assist with operations and oversight of our various support department.”

Mr. Merklin remains active in the water supply and public works community and is a long-time member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Long Island Water Conference (LIWC), and the American Public Works Association (APWA).
D&B has seven offices in the tri-state area, including five in New York and one in Somerset, New Jersey and Trevoth, Pennsylvania. Mr. Merklin will continue to be based at the company’s headquarters in Woodbury, New York.
