The 10th annual SURC Conference was recently hosted by Suffolk County Community College on the Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood.

The SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) is a multidisciplinary spring semester event. This year’s conference attracted 250 registered participants from 22 SUNY institutions. The SURC conference annually brings together undergraduate students and faculty mentors from across the SUNY system for a full day of activities, including oral and poster student presentations, performance and artistic displays, a keynote speaker, a Graduate School Career Fair, and professional development workshops for students and faculty. This year’s keynote was delivered by Dr. Shadi Sandvik, SUNY’s Senior Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Economic Development, who is also a Professor of Nanoscale Engineering. All undergraduate students engaged in research and their mentors across SUNY are invited to attend the SURC conference.

“Bringing together students and faculty from across the state to participate in SURC taps into the dynamic power of the SUNY system. Through this conference, our community college successfully partnered with SUNY’s four-year institutions to demonstrate that research matters, and that discovery has an impact that can positively affect communities locally, nationally and beyond,” said Dr. Edward Bonahue, President, Suffolk County Community College.
