First major purchase for the church on Long Island.
The Long Island Church of Scientology recently purchased an office property at 263 Old Country Road in Melville for $15.2 million, according to a report in Long Island Business News.
The purchase includes a 62,500-square-foot building on 5.5 acres. The building was previously occupied by ADI Global, a security product distributor.
Scientology, headquartered in California and had leased offices in Bethpage, marks its first significant commercial real estate investment on Long Island with this purchase.
Scientology has many adherents including major celebrities like Tom Cruise and John Travolta, who have been attached to the church.
According to the Long Island church’s website, Scientology is founded on the teachings of science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard and aims to guide individuals toward a comprehensive and certain comprehension of their genuine spiritual essence and their connections to themselves, family, communities, humanity, all living beings, the physical world, the spiritual realm, and the Supreme Being.
