Retired All-Star baseball player David Ortiz, known as “Big Papi,” sold his Pinecrest mansion shortly after his divorce was finalized.
Ortiz sold the five-bedroom, eight-bedroom home at 9505 Southwest 63rd Court for nearly $10.6 million, a record in Pinecrest, according to One Sotheby’s International Realty, which brokered the deal. The company declined to identify the buyer, which is yet to set a record.
Developed in 2019, the 10,178-square-foot estate sits on an acre of non-waterfront land. Ortiz and his now-ex-wife, Tiffany, bought the property for $1.5 million in 2016 when Ortiz retired from the sport, and had the home custom.
It makes sense, then, that the house has a sports bar with nine panels of high-definition screens. Other amenities include a “galaxy-like” custom home theater, a master suite with a TV that folds down from the ceiling, a fire pit, an outdoor fountain, and a pool deck with an outdoor kitchen and gazebo, according to the listing.
Michael Martinez of One Sotheby’s is representing the former Boston Red Sox longtime hitter in the auction. Dennis Carvajal of the same firm represented the buyer.
Tiffany Ortiz filed for divorce from David in late 2020, according to Miami-Dade records. Their divorce was finalized in April, and a notice of proceeds from the sale of their home was filed Wednesday.
David Ortiz, whom Keenan Thompson impersonated on “Saturday Night Live,” is a 10-time All-Star and won championships in 2007 and 2013.
His record Pinecrest home sale is slightly higher than the $10.5 million Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro paid for his home in December, also in Pinecrest.

The sale topped the previous Pinecrest record by about $200,000 — the $10.3 million for the 6155 Southwest 106th Street residence, also set in December.
Many former and current athletes call Pinecrest and the surrounding neighborhood home, including Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, who bought a home in the South Miami neighborhood last year for $7.4 million. Butler sold his Pinecrest home in 2021 for $7.1 million.
